Continuing my adventures in Scotland, here is a photo diary of my day trip to Perth. Perth is a city in the Perth and Kinross area and lies along the River Tay. As my previous post (A day trip to Peebles) this one is also organised for the Photographic Society of The University of Edinburgh.
During the trip, we followed this hiking trail to Kinnoull Hill and Tower through the Woodland Park.

Getting there
You can easily reach Perth via public transport from Edinburgh. There are frequent trains from Edinburgh Waverly and Haymarket train stations to Perth. From there the city centre is only a short walk away. To get the Woodland Park you need to cross the River Tay using the railway bridge (there is also a part for pedestrians) which is opposite the Fergusson Gallery.
Buy your train tickets easily and quickly using Trainline. [AD]
Things to do there
Perth has an interesting range of things to do. However, based on past trips we were expecting that we would require at least three hours to do the hike. In addition to the short winter days in Scotland, we opted to focus on getting to the top of the hill and back before it got dark, rather than doing any other activities in Perth.
Day Trip to Perth – Photo diary
All photos were taken using the camera Sony ILCE-5100 [AD] and the 16-50mm [AD] or 55-210mm [AD] lense unless otherwise specified.
P.S. We went on this trip on a cold January day. If you want longer days and clearer views consider visiting during the summer.
